BTTC: INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALFor 19 years, the "Back to the City Festival" has stood as the undisputed pinnacle of African hip-hop, rightfully earning its title as "The Biggest Hip-Hop Festival in Africa." In 2025, the legacy continues with the powerful theme, "Power in Numbers." This theme comes to life through an immense gathering of talent, featuring an incredible lineup of 100 artists, 20 DJs, 40 graffiti artists, and 8 producers. Beyond the music, the festival is a vibrant cultural hub with 120 clothing stalls, 20 food stalls, and 15 activation zones. Attendees can immerse themselves in the core elements of hip-hop culture with thrilling MC and DJ battles, a dynamic skate park, basketball games, and dedicated game zones, making it the ultimate celebration of creativity and community.

This year’s Heritage Section at Back to the City proudly pays homage to two living legends: Mdu Masilela, the Godntata of Kwaito, and Tuks Senganga, the Setswana rap trailblazer. This special segment celebrates artists who have shaped South Africa’s musical and cultural identity for over two decades. It’s a tribute to longevity, legacy, and lyrical mastery — honouring those whose influence echoes through generations.
